10 Days Uganda-Rwanda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: On your arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be met and welcomed by our representative. He will be your tour and driver guide for the rest of the days you will be in the country. After the interaction and brief introduction, you will be transferred to your preferred Hotel in Entebbe for an Overnight stay.

Day 2: After an early breakfast, depart for Kibale National Park. The drive offers scenic views, passing through the Western Rift Valley's Albertine Escarpment and traditional homesteads of the Bunyoro and Toro Kingdoms. On clear days near Fort Portal, you might see the snowcapped Rwenzori Mountains (Mountains of the Moon).

Kibale Forest is famous for its 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, and over 325 bird species, like the rare Green-breasted Pitta.

Arrive and check in to your lodge in the afternoon. Later, enjoy a nature and bird walk in the Bigodi Swamp. This community-run wetland is known for its rich diversity of birds and other primates, and provides employment for local youth through guiding. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:

Morning breakfast at your lodge and set out for a half-day Chimpanzee tracking experience. You will be transferred to the park headquarters at Kanyanchu for a 30-40mins briefing and get to know more about the chimpanzees and their ways of living within the forest. After this, you will then embark on your journey to search for these primates through the forest. On spotting the chimps, you are only given one Hour to be with them as you take videos and pictures. Along the way, other primate species can be spotted, such as the L’Hoest’s Monkeys, Red-tailed Monkeys, Blue Vervet Monkeys, and Black & White colobus Monkeys, among others. Other animals that can be seen are Forest Elephants, Buffalo, and a lot of bird species.

Day 4:

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is one of the country’s best wildlife National parks with over 600 bird species, mammals like Lions, Leopards, elephants, buffalo, and so many others. Dinner and Overnight at your Lodge.

Day 5:

After an early morning breakfast, depart for your morning game drive in the Kasenyi area. Look out for wildlife animals such as Lions, Leopards, buffalo, Elephants, Antelopes, Warthogs, Waterbucks, Bushbucks, and so on. Lunch and in the afternoon set out for the launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. The channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is home to one of Africa’s largest hippo populations and bird species. This 3hrs boat cruise will enrich you with views of the water-loving animals such as Hippos, Elephants, Buffaloes, Crocodiles, and other antelope, as we as bird species. Return to your Lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: After breakfast, leave the northern side of the park and transfer to the southern sector of Ishasha. Game drive in the mid-morning hours searching for the rare tree-climbing lions. Afternoon, embark on your journey to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The park is well known for being a habitat for the endangered species of Mountain Gorillas. Check in at your Lodge.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

The highly anticipated day for your Mountain Gorilla encounter is here! Start with an early breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for a briefing. Gorilla trekking takes place in Bwindi's four sectors: Buhoma and Ruhija (North) or Rushaga and Nkuringo (South), depending on your booking. Your trek may take 2 to 5 hours, but once you find the habituated family, you'll spend an unforgettable hour observing them, taking photos, and asking questions. Along the way, keep an eye out for other forest wildlife like primates, birds, and butterflies. This full-day activity (5–9 hours total) requires a packed lunch, and hiring a porter is highly recommended. If time allows, you may visit the "Ride 4 A Woman" community project in Buhoma to see local women crafting baskets and other handicrafts. Afterward, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda

Morning breakfast and set out for the community walk and Batwa cultural experience activity, and later continue with your journey crossing the border of Uganda and Rwanda via either Cyanika or Katuna and transfer to Volcanoes National Park, which is home to the endangered species of Mountain Gorillas and also the very part that makes Rwanda a Land of a thousand Hills. Overnight at your Lodge

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you'll transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting out on your second Mountain Gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park (PNV). It's essential to pack your lunch and water, and hiring a porter is recommended, as the duration of the trek is unpredictable—it could take a few hours or a full day, depending on where the gentle giants are. Once briefed and assigned a gorilla family, you'll head into the forest, hiking up and down the slopes; physical fitness is encouraged, but those less fit can hire a sedan chair (human helicopter). Upon locating the gorillas, you'll spend an incredible hour observing them and taking photos. Afterward, you'll return to your lodge. In the evening, visit the Iby'iwacu Cultural Village (the ex-poacher's village) for traditional entertainment and an enriching cultural experience before dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Kigali City Tour and Departure

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then set out for a half-day Kigali City Tour. This includes a visit to the solemn Kigali Genocide Memorial Site and Museum, the Nyamata Genocide Church, and vibrant local markets. Later, depending on your flight schedule, you'll have lunch before transferring to the Kigali International Airport for your departure.
